The sub prime crisis aside, it is pretty easy to raise cash and take out a loan today. Banks offer a wide range of opportunities and you usually don’t have to go to too much trouble to get your loans approved. But there is a big lack of education among consumers as to proper management of loans and debt. The fact is that not ever loan is suitable for each situation and it is important to know when to use each option. Just as banks offer the option of taking a special car loan, they also have various financial solutions for to the situations depending on your needs and plan for paying it off. You wouldn’t take a payday loan for a long period of time and you wouldn’t apply for unsecured loans to pay for a car or home. Make sure you have all the information before applying and don’t let the easy life banks offer become a disadvantage.

Off-peak buying or spending has always been touted by financial planners as a good way to beat the inflation and get more for your money, but few people do realize its benefits. Off-season purchasing not only promises better bargains for the consumers, but it is also the companies’ way of getting rid of inventory and paying extra overhead for keeping unnecessary merchandise.
So think way ahead of time for your purchases - instead of taking your regular summer vacation during June, think September when prices would have significantly dropped and fewer people would be going on their holidays. Buy your air conditioning in winter; shop for insulation and heating during spring.

If you are like me, you must spend more hours online than any other activity during the day. I guess this is what happens when so much of our life is on the internet and our working environment is at a computer desk. I used to spend the first hour every morning going from news site to news site as well as a number of trusted blogs I followed catching up on the latest news that I found interesting. I’m not the kind of guy that does do with the main section of a news site and I like to dig in and find articles and pieces on topics that I regularly follow.
Of course things are different ever since the conception of some web 2.0 services such as digg and others that provide an aggregated news service and include articles from across the web. But even with services like digg I still found myself going through numerous sites. One reason is actually flawly embedded in the digg system and that’s the fact that in many cases the title of the article is misleading on their system. This is quite frustrating. Also, I find that it is too mainstream and doesn’t give much option of finding personalized news. That’s why I like Thoof so much. They are a real personalized news site. Thoof kind of took the best in digg, wikipedia and a number of other sites and put them all together giving the killer app. You have categorized news so you can easily find what you want. You can suggest changes to the title and description of a post if you think it is misleading and they measure an article’s interest as reflected by user clickthoughs. This is also reflected in the Thoof badge which you can find on sites that submit to Thoof. A Thoof score of above 50% means that most people found it interesting while under 50% means it is a below average site.

Life could be a lot simpler without money - and yes, there could be ways to getting what you need and want without forking over some cash. Bartering, or trading what you have for what you want or need in return can be a fun way to save more - and everyone wins in the process.
It doesn’t have to be limited as well to goods or items. You can trade anything from your time, skills, space, information and even favors. More and more people now swap houses for vacations - an excellent way to save on expensive lodging, or carpool to work thus saving huge amounts in gas consumption.
