A Solar Run World

When you leave your lights on all day, or you air conditioner for that matter, do you give a thought as too how much electricity they use? You probably don’t, but you should begin to. As a fellow inhabitant of this planet, you should be concerned with environmental issues such as power. Solar power is a great energy alternative. Many steps need to be taken and much planning to needs to be done in order to institute solar energy into our daily lives.

Every other year the BP Solar Decathlon takes place in Washington D.C. This event brings twenty university teams from around the world together in order to design, build and operate very efficient solar homes. They compete over a period of a week and the results are astonishing. This event has been taking place since 2002. BP Solar has been a sponsor since the first contest. This year’s event, which takes place between October 11th and October 16th, is sponsored by BP Solar and the U.S. Department of Energy. The goal of this wonderful event is to produce cost effective and clean energy solutions for daily living.
